About the Process
move is a structured healing process that encourages expression through free-form, energy, breath driven movement.

move is a fun & alternative way to release the stress & tension of a busy week. Each session has a framework that begins & ends in the same way in order to create a safe space for self-exploration through dance & natural movement.

move has evolved to allow the freedom to dance & the joy of self expression to music, in a safe environment without the need for substances. It has been developed through personal experience of cathartic release through numerous practices including yoga, tantric, kundalini & dynamic meditations, combined with training as a meditation guide, yoga trance dance teacher & Kriya yoga moderator.

move is a process within which practitioners journey, carried by a wave of sounds specifically chosen to reflect the natural elements within the cosmos & the body.

Earth / Wood:
Preparation: On arrival you are invited to lie on your back, let go of the activities of the day, to become aware of the body on the ground, connecting with the breath before rising up slowly to prepare for the journey ahead.

Tuning in / Intention: It is important to set an intention for your dance & to tune in personally to higher forces. Standing we connect the body to the ground, feeling the earth below us rooted like a tree, bringing in that spiritual connection to the body, the lower part solid like the trunk, with the upper body & arms flexible like branches moving gently in the wind. Moving the hips allowing the energy to start to spiral up from the centre, moving through the body like a wave. We then drop into the pelvis, further to the groung, first squatting and then lying to get nearer to the core.

Water: gentle, subtle free movements on the floor, opening, rolling - fluid & flowing, gradually rising, evolving coming up from the ground moving the body moving naturally like various animals stretching & opening, kneeling, bending, unfolding, becoming more dynamic rising to standing before starting to freely move around the room, like flowing rivers.

Fire / Metal: after the free flowing movements of water where the body has become loose & relaxed, we enter a storm, the intensity & heat of fire element encourages cathartic release through shaking, energetic movements & dynamic kriya. Powerful, hard (metal) evocative music builds in intensity prompting faster & increasingly more frenetic movement to assist in the release of blocked energy.

Ether / Air: the music shifts from intense & fiery to more uplifting as the energy continues to rise, as participants celebrate in the ethereal music, & detachment from worldly concerns letting go to the heavens experiencing union, a oneness.

Moving into fun, light airy sounds as participants become freer; more joyful. Revel in this joyful expression of our true selves before starting to slow down, soften feeling lighter & then return to the ground.

Meditation: The cycle is completed as the journey ends with stillness & then silent contemplation, just observing.

Closing: with time to share any personal experiences of the session.

Practitioners are encouraged at all times to maintain awareness of & connection to the breath, allowing the breath to lead & support the movement. Conscious breathing is a powerful tool that can assist people during their healing journey, allowing the release of energy / emotions that may arise during the move process.

Beginning with prana yoga or the experience of prana initiating yoga asanas, yoga trance dance flows into an exploration of free-form, breath driven movement to liberate one’s creative life force and cultivate embodied freedom!
